Persimmon Cafe is a neighborhood sandwich spot serving up delicious sandwiches, soups, and to-die-for hand spun custards. It is located on the corner of Calhoun right in the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston and near the College of Charleston campus. The unique ambiance is worth the visit alone. It is situated within a laundry mat, interesting right?
We popped in today and Rob, the chef and owner, was at the counter to greet us. He recommended a few of the crowd favorites which included the roasted chicken panini and the greek sandwich along side with the refreshing basil limeade and vanilla lemonade. And…of course we couldn’t pass up the nutella and toasted marshmallow frozen custard for dessert.
We enjoyed our lunch on the beautiful wooden bar tops that line the inside of the cafe. Decorated with local art and photography, this place screams support local, which we love.
The food was simple but fresh, hot and delicious. Our favorite part of our lunch was the table side blow torch to toast our marshmallows on our frozen custard. Literally, so bomb…we couldn’t stop eating it.
Wanting a casual date night? On Thursdays they offer a date night special that includes 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks, and 1 custard for $20.00… what a steal! This place is perfect for a quick and causal bit, or to sit and enjoy your meal while people watching outside the big glass windows.
Whether your local or visiting you need to stop by and grab a bite. Thanks to Rob and his awesome staff for taking such great care of us! Check out their website and instgram!
